The Role:
The Principal Safety Advisor acts as a subject matter expert to a team of Health and Safety practitioners, supporting and advising Operational Leaders. The Principal Safety Advisor co-ordinates Health and Safety initiatives, participates in audits, inspections, and site verifications of implemented processes, and drives continuous improvement in Health and Safety performance across the business.
This role is a Monday – Friday based role at our Osborne Park Head Office
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visible and proactive safety guidance, modelling best practice and championing a positive safety culture across all site and corporate environments, including contractors.
- Lead, coach, and develop the safety team and Technical Services operational leaders, ensuring correct applied safety processes, identifying training needs, and fostering continuous improvement across departments.
- Ensure the effective application of the organisation’s Risk Management Framework, specifically on critical control monitoring and minimising of fatality risks.
- Oversee incident and emergency response management, including investigation quality, action tracking, audit compliance, and correct use of the INX safety management system.
- Proactively identify, assess, and address safety risks and operational barriers, generating strategies to improve safety performance and achieve operational targets.
- Engage collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and the distribution of up-to-date safety information.
- Monitor, interpret, and discuss legislative and industry changes to maintain compliance and drive continual improvement in health and safety standards
What will you bring?
- Professional qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
- Current Western Australian Drivers Licence
- ICAM and or Taproot & Auditing qualification
- Proven experience in a Health and Safety leadership role within the Mining Industry
- Incident Investigation experience
- Analysing and reporting Safety Data to peers and senior leadership
- Knowledge of the implementation and monitoring of Fatality Risk and Risk Management programmes
- Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of safety management processes and systems
- Experience in the practical application of safety in the mining industry
