The Opportunity
MinRes is seeking a Environmental Advisor on an 8x6 FIFO roster to support our Wodgina Lithium operation to operate safely, responsibly and in compliance with its legislation, licences and approvals.
Reporting to our Principal Environamental Advisor, you will implement and maintain the site's environmental management systems in line with MinRes standards and ISO 14001 principles. You will act as the day-to-day link between site operations, regulators and the wider environment team, and promote a strong environmental culture across employees and contractors.
What you’ll be doing
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, licences and approvals, and manage ground disturbance and clearing permit processes so clearing remains within approved limits.
- Conduct environmental inspections and audits, track close-out of corrective actions, and coordinate monitoring programs including groundwater, surface water, dust, noise, and flora and fauna.
- Support the management of waste rock, tailings and landform stability (including acid and metalliferous drainage risks), manage biodiversity and fauna controls, and support progressive rehabilitation and closure planning.
- Investigate environmental incidents, complete root-cause analysis, prepare regulatory notifications, and deliver accurate data, reports and annual regulatory submissions.
- Deliver environmental inductions and training, build constructive relationships with regulators and stakeholders, and provide environmental input into projects, change management and risk assessments.
What is required?
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2+ years' experience in an environmental role within mining, resources or heavy industry.
- Working knowledge of WA environmental legislation and approvals processes.
- Strong data management, report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with operational teams in a remote, fast-paced setting.
- Current C-class driver's licence and ability to obtain a site driving permit.
- Eligibility to work in Australia and ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen.
Desirable, but not essential
- Experience at a Pilbara or remote WA mine site.
- Experience with lithium or hard-rock mining and processing, tailings storage facilities or waste rock characterisation.
- Experience with Part V licensing and native vegetation clearing permits.
- Familiarity with environmental databases and tools (e.g. GIS, Power BI, Microsoft 365).
- ISO 14001 internal auditor qualification.
- Experience supporting rehabilitation and mine closure planning.
