About This Role:

The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct a multi-disciplinary project aimed at enhancing post-flowering heat tolerance in soybean. The major responsibility of the successful candidate will be to complete physiological and biochemical evaluations of soybean genotypes in growth chamber studies to identify promising traits or superior haplotype donors for improving post-flowering heat-stress in terms of seed yield and seed quality. In addition, the Postdoctoral Fellow will coordinate and manage laboratory, growth chamber, and computational activities within the group related to physiological and biochemical evaluations. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate actively with other members of the soybean breeding team, collogues and partners.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Crop Physiology, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with phenotyping and resources used for the physiological and biochemical analyses of major crops (soybean, maize, rice, wheat or sorghum).
  • Demonstrated ability to write manuscripts for publication in refereed journals.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer programs for the analysis of phenotypic and genotypic data.
  • Experience handling equipment in growth chamber research setting.
  • Excellent organization, written/verbal communication.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience working with soybean.
  • Experience in physiological analyses.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$47,476 to $60,000 annually. Salary commensurate with experience.
