Research Assistant Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The Integrated Genomics Facility (https://www.k-state.edu/igenomics/) in the Department of Plant Pathology is searching for a Research Assistant with experience in molecular biology techniques. The successful candidate will assist researchers working in the field of genomics and support ongoing research projects as needed, provide DNA sequencing and other services to facility clients using modern genomic technologies, conduct literature search to identify most optimal approaches for experimental procedures, and ensure that all research data pass quality control and submitted for analysis.
Laboratory Client Services Assistant Manhattan, Kansas On-site requirement
The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (KSVDL) at Kansas State University is seeking applicants for a Laboratory Client Services Assistant. This essential position within KSVDL exists to serve the needs of clientele/stakeholders (clients, faculty, residents, students, coworkers) in regards to sample reception, accessioning, and sample referrals. The Quality Assurance Engineer works as part of a DevOps team developing, configuring, and troubleshooting automated tests, manual regression testing as needed, and providing operational support. This position works in a highly collaborative environment working with multiple stakeholders to build, test, run, and maintain cloud-based solutions. This quality assurance engineer position is responsible for developing automated tests to replace manual regression testing and ensuring compliance with all relevant security standards. As a member of the DevOps team, you will help automate processes and facilitate the smooth and efficient building, testing, and releasing of applications.
Admissions Representative Manhattan, Kansas Hybrid eligible (partially remote, must reside in US)
The Admissions Representative will execute the department’s marketing and recruitment plan. This position will be dedicated to the department’s mission and goal, providing leadership and managing activities related to marketing and student recruitment. This position will be the primary point of contact for prospective students, faculty, recruitment committee, UG teaching coordinator and the department head; represent the Department of Grain Science and Industry (GSI) at on-and off-campus recruiting events. This position will be responsible for the coordination of on-campus visits and events (in-person and virtual) for prospective students. This includes meeting with prospective students and their family/guests, developing and arranging visits with GSI faculty advisors, creating new and innovative experiences for prospective students, and coordinating department efforts with the College of Agriculture and K-State Office of Recruitment and Admissions.
Chisholm Trail District Crop Production Extension Agent Other On-site requirement
Chisholm Trail District is comprised of Dickinson and Marion Counties. The district has a combined population of approximately 30,000 people. The office has a staff of six extension agents, three office professionals, and two SNAP-Ed educators. We are located on the edge of the scenic Flint Hills and only 45 minutes from Kansas State University. There are approximately one million tillable acres in the district. This position will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of research-based educational programs related to crop production. Programs will include but are not limited to: crop marketing and management; tillage, planting, and variety selection; weed, disease, and pest control; soil testing and fertilization; harvesting and post-harvest handling; and irrigation.

The Institute for Environmental Research (IER) at Kansas State University is seeking to hire a full-time Research Assistant for the Testing Services Program. The responsibilities of this position include receiving test samples, conducting textile,tests, entering data, managing testing photo files, and returning samples to customers. The primary focus of the Testing Services Program is on evaluating the thermal performance of fabric systems, clothing systems, sleeping bag systems, camping mattresses. and personal cooling systems. This includes: * Conducting thermal manikin tests on sleeping bag systems, clothing systems, bedding systems, and personal cooling systems. * Conducting hot plate tests on fabrics, batting systems, and camping mattresses * Weighing samples and measuring other properties, such a packing volume of sleeping bags. In addition to normal office activities this position requires standing, bending, lifting, and carrying up to 25 lbs. as well as physically manipulating (pushing, pulling, lifting, etc.) thermal manikins. This is a full-time, hourly position. Start date is negotiable but March 2023 is preferred.

A successful candidate will join a vibrant team of researchers investigating diverse aspects of wheat genetics and genomics focusing on the development of resources, tools, and strategies to identify and deploy beneficial wild relative diversity in breeding. The position’s focus will be on the computational analyses of large-scale datasets generated for wheat and its wild relatives in genome mapping experiments aimed at identifying beneficial genomic variation and genes to improve agronomic traits important for wheat production.
