Veterinary Assistant - Pet Health Center

About This Role

The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team to help facilitate exemplary patient care and quality customer service. This position will provide patient care and clerical support and serve as a veterinary assistant in the Pet Health Center. Assisting with patient care is of the utmost importance and will be a priority for this position. This position is also responsible for scheduling and preparing for patient appointments, working with clients, stocking, lab submissions, and cleanliness of the Pet Health Center. Working hours for this position will include rotating weeks of Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm and Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Worksite Option

This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • One year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience as a veterinary assistant providing patient care and appointment scheduling.
  • Ability to work with and provide preventative maintenance for ordinary veterinary medical hospital equipment.
  • Ability to handle, restrain, and provide medical treatments to domestic animals. Willingness to master new techniques. Interest in pursuing a veterinary nursing career.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge and comfort with Word and Excel software. Ability to provide software instruction to a variety of audiences.

Other Requirements:
