Custodial Supervisor
About This Role
The custodial supervisor will provide leadership and direction to a team of custodial specialists assigned with cleaning both living and learning spaces for students, faculty, staff and guests of the university. The position serves as a “working supervisor” and will perform custodial tasks as needed to provide support to the team and to meet expected cleaning levels. The team provides both housekeeping and industrial cleaning services.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Provides supervision and leadership to a team performing housekeeping/custodial duties.
- Trains, coaches, evaluates, interviews and selects employees.
- Serves as a “working supervisor” and actively participates in cleaning duties performed by the housekeeping team.
- Instructs staff in the use and care of equipment and materials. Demonstrates and explains techniques.
- Assists custodial manager as needed in directing and training staff.
- Reviews work of staff to ensure proper levels of housekeeping and custodial care meet or exceed expectations.

Worksite Option
The service nature of this position requires duties to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma and one year of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of custodial experience
- Experience as a supervisor/lead worker
- Ability to develop and maintain a cohesive, engaged work group
- Knowledge of materials and equipment used in housekeeping
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning procedures
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
Other Requirements:
- KSU Pillars of Leadership training within 6 months of employment
- Blood Borne Pathogen training
- Valid driver’s license upon employment
Sponsorship eligibility:
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range
$16.36 - $20.25 per hour
