Financial Aid Advisor
About This Role
The position advises students concerning financial aid programs, application procedures, budget development, debt management and the effective use of student financial resources available for meeting the costs associated with an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate, or professional degree program at Kansas State University. Possess extensive knowledge about the university financial aid programs, policies, procedures and student support services. Interprets student needs and provides individualized service and assistance while maintaining confidentiality. The position supports the Office of Student Financial Assistance’s mission of providing equitable access to available federal, state, and institutional forms of financial assistance.
Worksite Description
This position is On-site.
All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and four years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in conducting advising/counseling sessions
- Experience in giving presentations
- 2-3 years employment within an administrative office at a post-secondary institution of higher education
- 1-2 years employment within a financial aid office
- 2 or more years employment within an administrative position requiring the completion of complex forms and/or the interpretation of complex regulations and/or the utilization of calculations/formulas as a job duty and/or high level of customer service
Additional Role Information:
- Incumbent must be eligible to be registered as an administrative user of all federal student aid systems made available to aid administrators such as the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), Common Origination and Disbursement System (COD), FAA Access to CPS, etc.. Due to federal access standards to these systems, the incumbent must be personally in good standing in regard to any federal student loan repayment obligations and must not owe a repayment on a federal grant.
