Job Responsibilities

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an internal only candidate for the Assistant Director of Internships & Professional Pathways.  The Assistant Director for Internships and Professional Pathways will provide leadership in preparing students for internship and employment opportunities, and in building and maintaining employer relationships which help provide these opportunities. This role will also support the following:

• Prepares students for internships and pre-professional pathways
• Promotes student professional development opportunities
• Provides group and individualized counseling and career coaching for undergraduate and graduate students, in support of student career outcomes
• Collaborate with other Citadel departments to incorporate comprehensive career planning and student professional development opportunities into the campus culture
•  Acts as a liaison between students and these career preparation opportunities
• Develop relationships with employers (local and national) to provide internship and employment opportunities for student populations
• Gathers data and prepares reports on the internship and professional development programs
• Supports Career Center Director in the execution of grants and funding designated for student internship stipends, and student professional development
• Leads Professional Dress program

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of a Master’s degree in student Affairs, Communication, Education, Business Administration, Marketing, Psychology, or related are. At least five years of experience in teaching, training, coaching/counseling, Career Services, employer relations, recruiting, or related areas required.  Position requires knowledge of career coaching/counseling and training practices.

Excellent instructional; written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to learn computerized Career Center systems and to use web-based resources required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with O*NET or similar career assessments, Canvas/online instructional tools, relationship management systems, and other related resources preferred. Experience in higher education, student administration, coaching/counseling, or teaching preferred
