Job Description
The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking a temporary, website Administrator oversees the first impression and user experience of the college’s web presence, and enhances the capacity of the Office of Communications and Marketing to transmit integrated messaging to target audiences across an array of digital media.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of WordPress, responsive web design and open-source content management systems. HTML, PHP and CSS experience required, as well as experience in search engine optimization, increasing web traffic, and engaging key audiences online. Additionally, the TEMP Website Administrator will assist with converting the existing website to WCAG 2.1 AA standards by implementing existing software solutions.
- Website management and design: Implements content, site architecture, design and templates for the college website. Routinely monitors the website to be sure all content is current, effective and aligned with the messages being issued in other media.
- Web Governance: Assists with the implementation of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility for Citadel website. Helps the college ensure web content complies with ADA standards for accessible design by optimizing content and teaching best practices to department contributors.
- CMS user support and training: Assist campus departments with creation of web content and teaches them how to use the college’s content management system. Provides CMS training and user support via one-on-one consulting and small group workshops. Teaches and encourages department contributors to follow best practices for web content, and to be proactive and creative with their web presence.
The temporary website Administrator reports to the Director of Marketing. The ideal candidate must be able to work autonomously but is also capable of leading projects where they will work closely with a variety of persons and teams. This position resides in the college’s central communications and marketing office.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in web development, graphic design, marketing or related field.
- At least two years of professional experience in web design and creating online communications.
- Extensive knowledge of WordPress and common plug-ins
- Is a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative setting
- Excellent written and communications skills
- Must possess and demonstrate good judgment and confidence to complete competing priorities, and the ability to work with grace under pressure
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with WCAG 2.1 AA Accessibility Standards
- Higher education experience is a plus
