About the role:

Our team is growing, and we are currently seeking a motivated individual to join us in the position of Kitchen In-Charge Food Service Assistant at The Northern Hospital (Epping) on a Part Time basis, Monday to Friday 6:30am – 2:30pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing breakfast and lunch meal service operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery to patients
  • Supervising and supporting catering staff across all kitchen stations during the early shift
  • Ensuring patient trays are assembled correctly in accordance with dietary requirements, allergies, and texture modifications
  • Coordinating trolley collection, delivery, and dishwashing operations
  • Maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards in line with HACCP guidelines and Food Safety Legislation
  • Liaising with ward staff and nursing teams regarding meal requests and dietary queries
  • Assisting with stock availability, tray setup, and operational workflow across the kitchen
  • Conducting shift handovers and communicating operational issues to the Senior Food Service Supervisor
  • Supporting a positive, team-oriented workplace culture
  • Assisting with basic data entry and meal charging processes

About you:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in food service operations, hospitality, healthcare, or aged care settings
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and support a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of HACCP Food Safety Program principles and safe work practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Must hold a valid Working with Children Check
  • Must hold a valid National Police Check dated within the last 12 months
  • Holds a Food Handlers Certificate or is willing to obtain one.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of hospital food service operations and patient dietary requirements
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery / Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
