Introduction to the role: Our regional transfer pricing practice is growing. We are looking to hire an ambitious, commercially driven transfer pricing practitioner to support our efforts in growing the practice in Malaysia and to provide support to the regional transfer pricing team. We are the only law firm with a dedicated transfer pricing team in Malaysia and in the region and can offer a full suite of transfer pricing services to our international and domestic client base, competing with the Big 4. Our team is regional and the person hired will also have the opportunity to work on regional projects and global cross border transactions.

 

Best suited to the role would be a professional practitioner with a sound technical grounding in Malaysian and OECD transfer pricing principles with an entrepreneurial spirit. The transfer pricing practitioner will also be responsible for the training and development of tax practitioners in transfer pricing matters, and will be expected to contribute ideas to help develop innovative systems and appropriate processes in delivery for our practice to be efficient.

 

  • Duties & Responsibilities : Working with clients - directly, with lawyers and with other transfer pricing professionals - to develop and plan their transfer pricing policies in line with pragmatic business and technical transfer pricing requirements;
  • Working closely with Mid-level and Senior Associates (Equivalent to

Manager/Senior Manager in the Big 4) and Partners to identify business opportunities and develop the transfer pricing practice for Malaysia market;

  • Develop and propose transfer pricing planning opportunities and defence strategies to our clients;
  • Undertaking and supervising the preparation of transfer pricing documentation, being involved in functional analysis interviews, benchmarking studies and reviewing client issues and completion of transfer

pricing documentation;

  • Coordinate and manage client engagements with our Malaysia team and through our network;
  • Provide support on and manage projects in relation to transfer pricing audits for offices across our regional practice;
  • Coaching and mentoring junior staff to continue to develop our transfer

pricing capabilities;

  • Support the senior members of the team on APA projects, transfer pricing litigation and tax audit projects for offices across our joint Asian offices.

Qualifications Requirement

 

  • Possess a university degree and/or post-graduate qualification in Law, Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics, with a preferred minimum of 3- 5 years of transfer pricing experience in a Big 4 firm, law firm or a tax authority;
  • Have a thorough understanding of the OECD and Malaysia transfer pricing guidelines and the international transfer pricing environment
  • Possess an analytical and thorough approach to your work;
  • Be committed to technical excellence and quality;
  • Have excellent research and report writing skills;
  • Have an outward-looking, people-oriented personality and strong English communication skills (other languages are a plus);
  • Have strong leadership qualities and organisational skills; and
  • Be strongly driven and committed to deliver cutting-edge solutions for our clients from a wide spectrum of industries.
  • Willing to travel and willing to work on assignments in any of the firm's regional offices.
  • Self-starter, reliable, independent and willing to work cross-border as part of a regional team.
