WWAMI is a cooperative arrangement between UAA, the University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM), and other 4 states in the WWAMI consortium (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho); Alaskans are accepted into the program and receive their Foundation phase of medical school at UAA.

As an adjunct faculty member you will serve as a Foundations guide and work closely with UWSOM and UAA faculty at the WWAMI site in adapting and deploying (and in some circumstances developing) the UWSOM Foundations Phase curriculum in Anchorage. This will involve working closely with Block leaders in the UW School of Medicine and the UAA WWAMI program. This may include teaching in one or more of the blocks in the 18-month Foundations Phase Curriculum. This will include preparing for classes, facilitating student learning during classes & reviewing and discussing assignments, following up with students as needed, or serving as a resource for medical students and if specifically assigned additional responsibilities may include student remediation, submitting evaluations in a timely fashion, participating in faculty meetings and committee work of the WWAMI curriculum, interprofessional education and service-learning activities.

The physician must meet the requirements for appointment to the faculty at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree and board certification in an American Board of Medical Specialties recognized medical specialty. A minimum of 2 years of clinical practice experience in a relevant field. A minimum of five years of clinical practice and teaching is preferred with some of this experience having occurred in the Anchorage medical community. Past experience teaching with medical students preferred. Prior experience and involvement with the WWAMI program is preferred. Education, training and experience in a primary care field of medicine are preferred.

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage Alaska. This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
