Position Summary:
The Department of Computer Science (www.cs.uaf.edu) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor starting 2024-2025. The position requires a strong commitment to teaching computer science at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and performing public service. Candidates must have a PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
The department offers an ABET-accredited BS, as well as BA, MS, and interdisciplinary PhD degrees. UAF (www.uaf.edu) is the major research campus in the University of Alaska system and hosts several research institutes. Fairbanks, a modern community with approximately 98,000 residents, is located in interior Alaska between the Alaska and Brooks mountain ranges and noted for the scope of unique outdoor activities. We seek candidates who will strengthen our degree programs and appreciate the unique geography and climate of interior Alaska. Experience with ABET accreditation, obtaining funded research, and publishing in peer-reviewed publications are welcome but not required.

This is a full-time, 9-month exempt tenure-track faculty position with teaching, research, and service components of the workload. Teaching expectations are two courses per semester. A typical contract is 9-months during the fall and spring semesters, with an additional 3-month summer contract depending on the availability of research funds. The University of Alaska Fairbanks Computer Science department has offered Bachelor's and Master's degrees in computer science since 1990, offers students small class sizes and rigorous hands-on coursework, and our CS BS program has been ABET accredited since 1991.
Applicants must have a very strong technical background including both professional-quality computer programming, and the ability to teach computer science courses from the undergraduate to graduate level. Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.

Position Details:
This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks Alaska. This is a full-time, 9-month exempt faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
