Position Summary:

The University of Alaska Southeast School of Career Education is seeking qualified applicants for adjunct faculty positions in the Diesel Technology Program. These positions involve teaching various courses within the program, with the course load varying based on student enrollment. As part of a pooled position, opportunities may arise throughout the academic year. The Diesel Technology program at the University of Alaska Southeast offers comprehensive training in heavy-duty mechanics, with emphasis areas including Diesel/Heavy Duty, Diesel/Marine, Fixed Plant Mechanic, and Mine Mechanic. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training, students gain practical skills and theoretical knowledge essential for success in various industrial settings. Graduates are prepared to enter the workforce as skilled technicians in diesel machinery and related industries.

Graduates are prepared to enter the workforce as skilled technicians in diesel machinery and related industries.

Applicants should be able to teach courses in the Diesel Technology program as assigned, with responsibilities ranging from introductory to advanced levels. Develop and deliver instructional materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments, in accordance with program curriculum and learning objectives.

Along with providing guidance and support to students, including mentoring, advising, and academic assistance.
Also, engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness and stay current with industry trends and advancements.

To thrive in this role, previous teaching experience, particularly in vocational or technical education settings, is highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student success and achievement.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues, industry partners, and stakeholders to enhance program quality and relevance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree/bachelor's degree in a field related to Diesel Technology, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
2 years of relevant experience in the subject field.

Expertise in Diesel Technology concepts and practices, with a comprehensive understanding of heavy-duty mechanics, engine systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, and related topics.

Position Details:
