Position Summary:

The University of Alaska Human Resources department seeks a talented and meticulous HR Accountant to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial processes. You'll be part of a collaborative team dedicated to maintaining our institution's financial health and integrity.
We're looking for someone with a sharp eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a knack for process improvement. To excel in this role, candidates must possess advanced knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is essential. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel and intermediate knowledge of MS Access or other database reporting tools is required. Experience with automated accounting systems, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication abilities are also necessary. Candidates should be able to prioritize workload independently, meet deadlines under stressful situations, and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Statistics, or a related field or equivalent experience, with at least three years of progressively responsible professional fiscal expertise.
Position Details:
This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
