Position Summary:
UAF's Community and Technical College (CTC) is seeking a Term Assistant Professor for our Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate Program. Successful applicant will teach and directly supervise student learning experiences in simulation laboratory and clinical settings.
This is a full-time, 9-month, term Assistant Professor position complete with both a competitive salary and full UA employee benefits package.
UAF's Community and Technical College (CTC) has an opening for a Term Assistant Professor to direct our Allied Health programs and to instruct within our growing Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certificate program. The successful applicant will be responsible for directing our overall Allied Health programs and will teach and directly supervise student learning experiences in the LPN classroom, simulation laboratory and clinical settings. UAF CTC has a diverse staff and faculty and serves a culturally diverse student population that includes many non-traditional students and students from the military community. Our programs provide students with the academic framework to help them achieve their higher education goals, whether it is to complete an associate of arts degree or transfer to a baccalaureate program. In addition, UAF CTC provides career training and development opportunities through workforce development and professional development programs.
In this position you will have an integral role in helping to grow and develop UAF CTC's new Licensed Practical Nurse program. You will have the opportunity to use your education and experience within the healthcare field to train and prepare students for a rewarding career as an LPN. On a daily basis you will be able to help advise and teach students in the classroom or lab setting as well as develop relevant and exciting curriculum designed to help students be successful in this field of study. Beyond the instructional aspect of your role, you will also work with the Allied Health faculty team encouraging collaboration, ensuring quality and promoting increased enrollment across all aspects of the UAF CTC Allied Health programs.
A minimum of 5 years clinical nursing experience and experience working with private and public external constituencies will be important to thrive in this role. Your strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills will be used daily as you advocate for the UAF CTC Allied Health programs, and the University, and foster relationships needed to build and sustain a vibrant LPN program.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must hold a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Current or recent direct engagement in a significant manner in clinical nursing experiences
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Alaska, or ability to obtain Alaska license within six months of hire.
Position Details:
This position is located at the UAF Community and Technical College in Fairbanks. This is a full-time, 9-month, term faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
