The Social media student assistant is responsible for producing and editing video and still content for the university’s social media platforms. This role involves shooting raw footage, processing and editing images and videos, and assisting with the logistics of field shoots. The specialist will also contribute creative ideas for social media content and participate in planning social media campaigns and content shoots.
The role requires staying informed about emerging social media trends, contributing to content budget discussions, and ensuring that all content aligns with the university’s branding and communication goals.
UA student enrolled in 6 or more credits with 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
▪ Working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube.
▪ Familiarity with best practices for brands on social media.
▪ Familiarity with the UAF brand.
▪ Proficiency in mobile phone photography and videography.
▪ Proficiency with photo and video editing software.
▪ Proficiency using SLRs, GoPros and other photo/video equipment.
▪ Proficiency using microphones and lighting equipment in field settings.
▪ Ability to conduct interviews or appear on-camera during the creation of social media content.
▪ Ability to work a nonstandard schedule, including some evenings and weekends
Minimum Qualifications:
UA student enrolled in 6 or more credits with 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
Some video and design skills preferred.

Position Details:
This student staff position is 20 hours/week during the academic year with opportunities for up to 40 hours/week during the summer and pays $18.00/hour.
This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
