In this role, you will help manage over 380 acres of land throughout every season. Flexibility is essential: our workload is varied and no two days are ever the same. Our team handles winter snow removal and ice control; stewards forests and trails; operates a greenhouse; manages an interior plant collection; and oversees the health and maintenance of hundreds of acres of lawn, flower beds, trees and hardscape.

To thrive in this position, a candidate must have experience in the trade, a desire to work outdoors in all weather conditions and the ability to grow their skills and work closely with a tight-knit team.

This position is located on the UAA Main campus in Anchorage, is full-time with a forty-hour work week. Typical work hours are 7am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday. During seasonal weather events, this position may also be subject to extra hours of work and “Call-in” to work additional hours. Pay for additional hours worked will properly be compensated in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Collective Bargaining Unit.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two-year degree or certification in a related field; OR six years of multi-trade experience and/or a combination of education and experience related to the trades. Required to obtain a valid Alaska DEC commercial pesticide applicator’s license (Category 4) within 12 months of hire.

Experience with customer service, working in a team environment and evidence of good communication skills. Experience with snow removal/ice control, experience with medium and heavy-duty equipment usage, basic horticulture experience and basic hardscape maintenance experience (signs, potholes, etc.).

Driving Requirements:
Applicants must possess a current, valid Alaska Driver’s License or have the ability to obtain an Alaska Driver’s License per State regulations. Must have a driving record which meets the University of Alaska Category 1 Driver criteria: https://www.alaska.edu/risksafety/download/TransportationSafety.pdf. The ability to pass the University Safe Driver Training criteria modules.

This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
