Position Summary:
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) of Mat-Su College is seeking a Biology Tutor to support our student needs starting fall 2024 term.

The Elizabeth J. Fallon Learning Resource Center (LRC) offers tutorial services in math, writing and some sciences for all MSC students.
Tutor hours vary each semester and are subject to change. Hours of availability for the current semester are posted outside the LRC and on the department web site.
Biology tutors work with students in a variety of course work at different skill levels. Tutors don't provide a correction service for homework but, rather, help students grasp principles of biology and apply those principles.
To thrive in this role, applicants must demonstrate mastery in biology with an emphasis on anatomy, physiology and microbiology. Successful applicants must also possess excellent oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to work with students from diverse populations; the ability to maintain confidentiality; the ability to explain concepts to students of varying skill levels; and possess an overall passion for teaching and helping students succeed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field strongly preferred.
Experience in teaching or tutoring biology concepts strongly preferred.
Knowledge of current biology curriculum and teaching methodologies.
Position Details:
This position is located at the Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer, Alaska. This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
This is a pooled position, open until filled.
