Position Summary:

Campus Services is actively recruiting for Student Custodial Assistants for the residential community.

Campus Services is actively recruiting for Student Custodial Assistants for the residential community. Campus Services is responsible for all business and facility aspects of UAA's residential campus in UAA's residential community. This includes 18 residential and non-residential buildings across campus.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform a variety of custodial duties to ensure exceptional in-house custodial service. Must be focused on customer service and committed to providing our students and guests with an attractive, clean, and healthy educational environment. This position is under frequent supervision and will receive assignments with detailed instructions. Progress will be checked regularly.

Applicants must possess the ability work as part of a team, work independently, pay attention to detail, and follow directions. Strong time management and interpersonal communication skills are also required.

The role involves maintaining buildings in a clean and organized condition by performing tasks such as trash removal, general cleaning, and eliminating hazards. Responsibilities include using work orders, including computerized systems, to manage inventory and issue materials, sorting and organizing items on shelves or racks, and conducting regular inventories. Additional duties include floor maintenance, such as sweeping, mopping, and carpet cleaning, cleaning windows, doors, and other surfaces, and sanitizing restrooms, food service areas, and common spaces. Other tasks may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the skills and abilities necessary to accomplish the essential functions of the job. May require a current valid driver's license, must meet UA safe driving requirements. Must undergo a criminal history background check; and have the ability to follow instructions both written and verbal in the English language and the ability to complete required forms, paperwork, and time sheets.

To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must:

A.) Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or

B.) Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and

C.) Have at least a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA).

D.) An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a part-time, Student Assistant 2 position with a starting pay of $16.15/hour.
