Position Summary:
ANSEP is seeking an Assistant Director to help support our Acceleration Academy in Anchorage.
ANSEP is seeking an Assistant Director to help support our Acceleration Academy in Anchorage. ANSEP Acceleration Academy is a dual enrollment program on the University of Alaska Anchorage's campus that supports 9th-12th grade students who are working to earn two years or more in college credits before they graduate from high school.
Within the Acceleration Academy, the ANSEP Assistant Director position has primary responsibility for the day-to-day academy operations. Duties include managing and scheduling staff composed of Student Success Specialists and Student Success Liaisons, coordinate and incorporate ANSEP component planning in alignment with ANSEP’s mission, lead planning of annual established program initiatives, plan and coordinate staff training and professional development and manage all dormitory, facility and dining related activities for ANSEP programs and coordination with other ANSEP Acceleration Academy sites. The Assistant Director works closely with the Director to ensure that staff, program goals and activities are completed to ensure students succeed academically and personally. This role will also involve coordination with other ANSEP components and external partners and donors.
The candidate should possess strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, as they manage and coordinate staff daily activities. They should have high financial acumen with knowledge of budgets and the granting process. The ability to lead and organize program planning and activities that provide quality student academic and social activities. Ability to coach and develop staff. Work independently under minimal supervision. Expertise in writing, negotiating, and administration of contracts and complex agreements.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM related or relevant field with at least five years of experience working with school aged students grades 6-12 or equivalent combination of training and experience. Supervisory experience of programs and/or staff. Knowledge of the University environment. Public speaking skills. Ability to comprehend and apply university policies and procedures as they relate to students and staff. Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing. Ability to work effectively with a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience with pre-college residential programs. Experience working with Alaska Native Regional Corporations, Alaska Native non-profit organizations, government agencies or private industry groups preferred
Position Details:
This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff (salary not hourly) position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
