Kodiak College Learning Center Tutor Kodiak
The Learning Center Tutor's primary responsibility is to tutor in Writing, Math, Health Science, Science, study and test taking skills, and/or other subjects based on their expertise. Duties will include one or more of the following, depending on the needs of The Learning Center. * Tutor individually and/or in groups, in person and/or virtually. * Tutor in classrooms and/or via Supplemental Instruction (SI), in person and/or virtually. * Assist students/community members with computer use and/or computer-based tutorials. * Document student/community member visits, keep accurate records, and assist with data collection and reporting. * Participate in new tutor orientation, tutor education workshops, and department meetings. * Help promote The Learning Center across campus. * Participate in the development and presentation of workshops and/or class visit presentations to students, community members, instructors, and/or staff. * Participate in the maintenance and ongoing improvement of The Learning Center and its resources. * Other duties as assigned. Academic coaches help students “own their learning” by helping their peers with time management, using common software programs, study skills, stress management, test taking strategies, organizational skills, and other academic success skills. Academic coaches work with students in-person (drop in and by appointment) and online (by appointment only). The Learning Commons (LC) provides educational support and opportunities to all UAA students. The LC offers services to promote student success including: subject-specific tutoring, writing support, communication and presentation coaching, the Learning Assistant program, open study space, and more.
