Launceston General Hospital (LGH), crowned at the top of the bountiful Tamar Valley. The LGH provides inpatient and ambulatory services to Launceston and surrounding areas.

Job Description:
- Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
- Provide Plastic and Reconstructive services to the population of northern Tasmania (250'000).
- Be involved in research and quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- Provide specialist advice to inpatient units as required.
- Provide Leadership and mentoring for Registrars and RMOs, participate in SET Registrar training and Multidisciplinary Team Meetings.
The role:
- Clinical Activities:
- Elective and Acute operating, with the potential for peripheral elective day surgery.
- Outpatient Clinic at the LGH, with the potential for peripheral clinics.
- Weekly Grand Rounds and when appropriate multidisciplinary meetings.
- Provide consultative service for other specialty units.
- Supervising unit staff to include Fellow, Trainee, junior Registrars and residents.
- Quality Assurance Activities within the LGH:
- Participate in Unit and Departmental Management Meetings.
- Participate in continuing education meetings.
- Ensuring accurate clinical records.
- Teaching & Research:
- Undergraduate teaching, including tutorials for students of the Tasmanian Medical School.
- Teaching of the clinical staff (Doctors and Nursing).
- Participate in clinical reviews and research activities.
4. Call Back:
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster with other consultants 1:4-1:5.
5. Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training.

Details of Appointment
Fixed Term, part time, day worker position working 36 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as you can join the team for a three year period.

Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioners
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $210,000 - $301,349 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 -$301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
- Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Provision of a motor vehicle allowance of $28.389 per annum, pro rata
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum, pro rata
- Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees

Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.

Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
