Job description:

We are seeking Business Managers with strong analytical skills and a passion for business improvement to join the finance and business Support team within Hospitals North

Position 1: Business Manager (531644)

The Role:

We are seeking a Business Manager with strong analytical skills and a passion for business improvement to join the team. You will be integral to supporting and achieving the finance and business support performance outcomes within Hospitals North. Your work will include providing guidance, support and working collaboratively with the Executive, Clinical Directors and Nursing Directors for the provision and facilitation of financial reporting, business advice, procurement guidance, contractual and human resource information necessary for the effective operation of the respective areas and ensuring compliance with Treasurer’s Instructions and Departmental policies and procedures.

You will be reporting to the Manager – Finance and Business Support and will assist with the whole of organisation financial tasks.

As the Business Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Working collaboratively with the Manager – Finance and Business Support using your combined financial and analytical capabilities to deliver the finance and business support outcomes  Hospitals North.
  • Operating with considerable autonomy and independence you will be required to  undertake research and analysis the finance and business management performance to assist Hospitals North to deliver on performance and operational plans.
  • Using your financial skills to  compile monthly reports or provide detailed financial analysis of month end reporting, applying your high degree of accuracy by reviewing, investigating, coding claims and invoices for approval.
  • Use your  highly-developed communication skills and knowledge to draft correspondence and prepare reports on numerous matters.

You will need:

  • Sound knowledge or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge, of the Tasmanian Government financial framework, associated legislation and Government accounting procedures, with the capacity to provide support, advice and make recommendations to a number of stakeholders as required.
  • Demonstrated advanced financial analysis skills with the ability to research and interpret information and to recommend appropriate action.
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide advice within the context of the political, social and organisational environment in which the department operates.

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed date

Position 2: Business Manager - Department of Medicine (531643)

The Role:

We are seeking a Business Manager with strong analytical skills and a passion for business improvement to join the team. You will be integral to supporting and achieving the finance and business support performance outcomes of the Department of Medicine, which is the largest department within Hospitals North - Launceston General Hospital supporting service areas, patients and employees under Critical Care Services (CCS), Acute Medical(AM), Sub-Acute and Ambulatory Care Service (SAACS).

You will be reporting to the Manager – Finance and Business Support while being collocated with and working in a collaborative partnership on a day to basis with the Clinical Director of the Department of Medicine and the three Nursing Directors.

As the Business Manager for the Department of Medicine you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting and working collaboratively with Clinical Directors and Nursing Directors for the provision and facilitation of financial reporting, business advice, procurement guidance, contractual and human resource information necessary for the effective operation of the respective areas and ensuring compliance with Treasurer’s Instructions and Departmental policies and procedures.
