Job description:

Provide advanced technical skills for the lifecycle management of ICT Infrastructure and consultancies in information technology to business units within the DPFEM. Provide leadership and mentoring to team members.

Duties

  • Undertake a lead role in providing advanced technical expertise in the planning, architecture, implementation, integration and maintenance of ICT Infrastructure, including DPFEM’s servers and storage on premise, cloud and ICT networks.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to team members, including IT Consultants and less experienced staff within ICT Operations.
  • Provide the technical oversight of the management and services undertaken by external contractors and vendors. 
  • Build and manage strong positive professional relationships with clients, stakeholders, external support vendors and specialists to ensure that effective systems and processes are followed to deliver the expected high level of service standards.
  • Provide a high-quality IT project management and advisory service to clients including technical ICT architecture and standards services, ensuring that Departmental ICT infrastructure and development projects are managed effectively, efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Provide authoritative, specialised advice and high-level support directly to senior management and business units on business application design and integration strategies. Identify efficiencies and evaluate emerging technologies that provide benefits to the Department that are aligned with the DPFEM strategic initiatives. 
  • Undertake research and develop and implement proposals ensuring the efficient and effective use of existing and emerging enterprise systems.

Essential Requirements

Pre-Employment Checks 

The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment.   • Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
  • Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
  • Making false declarations;
  • Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
  • Malicious damage and destruction to property
  • Trafficking of narcotic substance;
  • False alarm raising. 

Desirable Requirements

  • Professional IT knowledge gained through satisfactory completion of a relevant course of study at a tertiary institution and/or appropriate industry certification.
  • Experience with ICT infrastructure including:
  • Support and maintenance of complex VMware environments
  • Microsoft® Azure DevOps
  • Support and maintenance of complex multidomain Active Directories
  • Support and maintenance of complex ICT networks
  • Support and maintenance of cyber security tools including vulnerability scanning and threat hunting.
  • Microsoft® Azure Cloud Services.
  • Current ITIL® certification.
  • Current Project Management certification.
  • Current driver’s licence.
