Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager to join the Department of Health!

The Child Health and Parenting Service are looking for a suitable candidate to join our leadership team as a Nurse Unit Manager based in the Northern region of Tasmania.

The CHaPS Team:

The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) provide important health and wellbeing services for families across Tasmania with children aged 0-5. The service promotes the healthy development and wellbeing of children, providing growth and developmental assessments, health-focused early intervention, referrals and connections with other early childhood service providers.

The CHaPS support families as they transition into parenthood, enhancing parental confidence and capacity, and providing information and services focused on building relationships between children and parents/care givers.

The Nurse Unit Manager:

  • Provides leadership to clinical staff in the Child Health and Parenting Service.
  • Ensures the efficient and effective provision of care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework by coordinating the clinical, management, education, and nursing research functions.
  • Leads and manages the coordination of overall client care and is responsible for managing the allocated
    human, material, and financial resources for service delivery within CHaPS.

You will need:

  1. Demonstrated extensive clinical knowledge and experiences relevant to child and family health nursing, with a strong commitment to guiding the service to achieve excellence.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in contemporary nursing management practice, including clinical governance; clinical risk management; evidence-based practice; research; clinical standards; ethics; and legislation.
  3. Demonstrate capability to promote a shared vision and purpose and positively influence others (internally and externally) to ensure optimal client outcomes and build a culture of success, commitment, and active contribution by all staff within the practice area.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until June 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $122,365 to $129,060 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Relevant post-graduate qualification

  • Post-graduate qualifications in Child and Family Health Nursing and Health Management
