Job description:

The Team:

The Department of Medicine at the Launceston General Hospital is one of the hospital's largest and busiest service groups, overseeing several high-demand areas, including the Acute Medicine Division. Acute Medicine, comprised of four medical wards (3D, 4D, 5D and 6D), the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Cardiology Services, plays a central role in hospital operations, delivering essential care for patients with acute and complex medical conditions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 

The Role:

As Executive Assistant to the Nursing Director of Acute Medicine, you will play a key role in supporting the leadership of these services. This role is highly administrative and organisational, providing executive-level support through effective diary and correspondence management., coordination of meetings, preparation of documentation and acting as the central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Your contribution will enable the Nursing Director to focus on strategic and operational priorities, ensuring the department continues to deliver safe, high-quality care to the Tasmanian community. 

  • Provide direct administrative, clerical, reception, and secretarial support to the Nursing Director – Acute Medicine, including the preparation of highly confidential documents, correspondence, submissions, and reports.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and monitoring of effective communication systems, including the timely flow of information to and from the Department of Medicine, to both internal and external customers of the Launceston General Hospital.
  • Coordinate and assist in the production of complex documentation, undertaking research for Ministerial and Question Time Briefs, preparing background notes and other necessary information regarding matters relating to the activities of the office of the Department of Medicine.
  • Schedule meetings, videoconferences, and other appointments, including the compilation of agenda papers and minute/note taking.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $73,811 - $79,779 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
