Job description:

Assist with the daily functioning of Allied Health Professional (AHP) services. Undertake tasks under direction of AHP’s.

The Team:

Outpatient rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary allied health outpatient service for clients returning home to the community following an inpatient admission. Outpatient rehabilitation is based at the Launceston General Hospital and provides goal-directed, time limited therapy for clients with physical, emotional and/or cognitive difficulties and deficits arising from their recent medical event. The service aims to deliver excellent care and improve functional outcomes for clients.

The Role:

This important role will see you working within the Outpatient Rehabilitation team at the Launceston General Hospital. As an Allied Health Assistant in this team, you will assist multiple Allied Health professions (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Dietetics, Psychology and Social Work) to support their clients to reach their goals by delivering and supporting therapy programs. In addition to supporting individual and group programs you will assist with coordinating and scheduling appointments for the service.

You will need:

  • Strong communication skills to foster rapport building with clients and engage with team members.
  • Adequate computing skills and willingness to learn computer systems for the purpose of appointment scheduling and documentation.
  • Ability to work with multiple Allied Health disciplines to provide individual and group therapy programs.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 2 February 2026.

Salary: $67,193 to $72,176 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Health Service Assistance (Allied Health Assistance) or equivalent qualification

  • Tertiary student of a relevant and approved allied health course of study at a recognised tertiary institution
