The Team:
MCH ED The Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) is located at Latrobe and specialises in high volume, low case weight procedures. The hospital provides Emergency Department, General Medicine, Close Observation Unit, Day Oncology Services, Rehabilitation Services Unit, Specialist Clinics and is working towards becoming a centre of excellence for short stay surgery in Tasmania. Ante and Post natal maternity services are provided by experienced midwives with a Lactation Consultant service also available. The Mersey is fully accredited by Quality Innovation Performance LTD (QIP).
The ED team at the MCH look forward to you contributing to nursing practice for the MCH. Our mission is working together to provide quality nursing and midwifery services to those who need our care. Our Emergency Department is a supportive, skilled and sustainable dynamic, high-acuity environment where no two days are the same. We manage approximately 80–100 presentations daily, ranging from minor injuries to critically unwell patients and major trauma.
You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary and diverse team of skilled clinicians who work collaboratively to deliver timely, evidence-based care to both adult and paediatric patients. Our team thrives in a fast-paced setting, supported by hospital specialties. Together, we are committed to providing exceptional emergency care to the North-West Tasmanian community.
The Role:
As a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department, you will:
- Strengthen health outcomes through the provision of safe, quality, and clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients, families, and other health professionals.
Respond to a wide range of emergency presentations, including trauma and critical illness.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity environment.
You will need:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong communication skills.

Details of appointment:
Multiple permanent, full time or part time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions available, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed upon date.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
- Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439 - $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
