Job description:
The Executive Director, Strategic Partnerships is responsible for securing and leveraging Australian Government funding and strategic investment to advance Tasmania’s economic and regional development priorities. It provides high-level leadership in developing funding proposals, negotiating strategic partnerships, implementing and managing key projects, programs and initiatives.
The position drives investor engagement, fosters intergovernmental and industry collaboration, and ensures robust performance monitoring and reporting. Through strategic communication, policy alignment, and team leadership, the role positions Tasmania to attract investment, deliver impactful programs, and achieve long-term economic and social outcomes.
This function is critical to positioning the Office of Coordinator General (OCG) as a trusted, responsive, and strategic partner in investment attraction and retention.

Period of Appointment
Appointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for 3 (Three) years.
Duties
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a strategic investor engagement program aimed at fostering long-term, high-value relationships with domestic and international investors. This includes:
- Developing and executing a proactive communication strategy that ensures consistent, targeted, and high-quality engagement with current and prospective investors and other stakeholders.
- Overseeing the creation and dissemination of tailored content—such as investment briefs, newsletters, sector updates, and strategic insights—aligned with the interests and priorities of key investor segments.
- Coordinating follow-up and relationship-building activities with companies that have engaged with the OCG through missions, delegations, or other outreach initiatives, ensuring continuity and deepening of engagement.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure investor interactions are strategically aligned with broader OCG, agency and state economic development priorities.
- Maintaining a dynamic investor database and leveraging insights to inform engagement strategies, track relationship progress, and identify opportunities for further collaboration or investment facilitation.
- Promote the work of the OCG through targeted messaging to government, industry, and the community, including managing reputational risks.
Essential Requirements
Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role:
- Extensive experience managing multiple stakeholders and negotiating commercial transactions; and extensive experience and/or tertiary qualification related to project management
The person must continue to satisfy the above essential requirements/qualifications throughout their employment in this role.
Desirable Requirements
- Current driver’s licence.
- A relevant degree or other tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience.
