
The Team:
The team consists of 2 Consultants, 2 Registrars and 1 Resident Medical Officer. There are a social worker and a part time psychologist as part of the multidisciplinary team. This team provides contemporary care to our consumers combined with a nursing service who are committed to establishing the best outcomes for the consumer.
The Role:
This role is based within Spencer Clinic, a Mental Health Inpatient Unit that offers consumers 19 inpatient beds, including 3 bed high-dependency unit. Spencer Clinic is located within the North-West Regional Hospital, barely 5 minutes from Burnie's CBD. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will contribute to our consumers health outcomes by working within an effective multidisciplinary team through their recovery journey.

You will need:
- Current knowledge and experience in and the ability to apply nursing principles and procedures in the delivery of consumer care in acute adult mental health in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council competency standards for Registered Nurses.
- Knowledge and understanding of the psychosocial and health needs of individuals and their application to nursing practice in the acute adult mental health setting, including an understanding of the principles of maintaining appropriate therapeutic relationships with consumers.
- Sound knowledge of psychotropic drugs, actions and side effects.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, shift worker position (fully rotational), working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Location: North West, Tasmania
Salary: $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Possess or be working towards a specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification, or completed prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, a hospital-based training program that resulted in previous registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse registration authority within Australia
