Period of employment / Hours:
Permanent full-time (76.00 hours per fortnight) day work (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation) - 2 vacancies.

Duties:
Primary Purpose / Focus :
This is a senior officer role within the Housing Policy and Programs branch, requiring experience in program-level policy development and demonstrated ability to think critically with excellent analytical, conceptual, research, writing, and personal management skills to design new services and embed new practices within Tasmania’s housing and homelessness system.
The Senior Policy Officer, as part of the Program and Service Design unit, will inform reform and develop program-level policy for new and current housing programs for recommendation to senior management and the Homes Tasmania Board and by working closely with service providers to embed new practices.
As part of a team, contribute to the development of program-level policy and service design in a manner that is inclusive of relevant government agencies, stakeholders, staff, Homes Tasmania’s partners, and incorporates the voices of people with lived experience.
Provide high-level advice about the design of new services and embedding new practices to the Manager of the unit, in accordance with strategic policy direction, relevant legislation, and best practice and quality guidelines.
Skills and experience :
Selection criteria includes:
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, including written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to lead the development of concise and correct written documents that identify relevant issues and make recommendations to shape strategic thinking at senior management level and prepare public documents that are easy to understand.
- Highly developed time management skills, with demonstrated ability to work quickly under pressure, often according to complex rules and procedures, and be adaptive to change.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, including verbal communication skills, and demonstrated ability to represent Homes Tasmania externally, including the ability to build productive relationships with key stakeholders and to effectively communicate to resolve complex issues.
