Job description:

Manage and coordinate the provision of a complete range of efficient and effective office management support services for the Nurse and Midwifery Managers (NUM/MUM), ensuring sensitive and confidential handling of all enquiries.

The Team

The team within the Department of Health Tasmania supporting the Administrative Officer (523820) role is a collaborative, service-focused group that ensures the smooth and efficient operation of health services. It typically includes administrative professionals, managers, and clinical staff who work together to support frontline healthcare delivery.

Administrative Officers contribute by managing records, coordinating workflows, supporting staff, and maintaining systems that enable high-quality patient and organisational outcomes.

Overall, the team plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in supporting effective, patient-centred healthcare services across Tasmania.

The Role

Manage and coordinate the provision of a complete range of efficient and effective office management support services for the Nurse and Midwifery Managers (NUM/MUM), ensuring sensitive and confidential handling of all enquiries.
As a team member, actively support the delivery of a comprehensive range of administrative and service operation functions and facilitate effective communication processes to and from the office.

You will need

  • Provide direct secretarial/administrative support to NUM/MUM including the preparation and coordination of confidential documents, correspondence, background notes, briefings, submissions, and reports as required.
  • Undertake and support with a range of HR administrative processes associated with recruitment processes, timesheets sick leave, annual leave, and professional development requests.
  • Maintain electronic leave bookings for ward nursing midwifery and ancillary staff and reconcile various payroll reports by critically examining, evaluating, and taking appropriate action to ensure relevance, completeness, and accuracy.

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$73,811 to $79,779 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
