The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania, and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania Medical School. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state.
The Department offers a wide range of experience in trauma, hand and wrist surgery, skin cancer, burns and general paediatric and adult reconstructive surgery. There is an active teaching programme with a high degree of commitment from Consultants to teach and supervise. Research and publications are actively encouraged.
The Department comprises of six Plastic Surgeons each with a super speciality interest, four Registrars (one PRS SET Trainee from the VIC/TAS training programme, 3 Unaccredited), one Surgical Basic Trainee (previously referred to as Senior Resident Medical Officer) and one Intern.

Salary
$138,978 - $194,675 per annum
Salary range is in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025

Period of Employment
Fixed term, full time day work, working 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training time per fortnight, pro rata), commencing from 1 February 2027 until 7 February 2028.
Please note up to 24-month contracts negotiable with suitable applicants.

Duties
- Responsible for the day to day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility. Provide after-hours emergency as determined by the relevant work unit.
|
Essential Requirements
- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).
