As a Staff Specialist in Anatomical Pathology, you will bring high level diagnostic expertise to a collaborative and well regarded department, playing a critical role in delivering timely, accurate pathology services that underpin clinical decision-making.

The Role
- Participate in the Anatomical Pathology services provided by the department of Anatomical Pathology at the RHH.
- Conduct tissue review meetings.
- Undertake undergraduate teaching of medical students of the University of Tasmania.
- Provide supervision and training of postgraduate specialist trainees.
- Maintain involvement in research activities including supervision of research students.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the services provided to patients.
- Provide administrative functions to the unit as required.
- Work collaboratively with scientific staff and other health professionals.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.
- The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

Details of appointment
- Permanent full-time day work (with on-call), working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

Salary and Benefits
This is a highly rewarding opportunity offering an exceptional remuneration and benefits package aligned with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025.
💰 Competitive Remuneration
- Base salary ranging from $222,789 – $319,701 per annum (pro rata)
- Senior Specialist range available: $309,222 – $319,701 (subject to eligibility)
- Total remuneration for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 9 roles may commence from approximately $484,000 per annum, with potential for higher earnings

Eligibility
Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as

Holds specialist registration; or
-
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or
-
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

- Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) autopsy certificates - adult and perinatal, or relevant equivalent qualification
