Working closely under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Midwife, you’ll provide hands-on support to patients and clients, ensuring their individual needs are met and their care plans are achieved. This is your opportunity to grow your skills, work collaboratively in a supportive clinical environment, and contribute to positive health outcomes—while making meaningful connections with the people you care for.

The Team

Ward 6D is a 32-bed medical and stroke unit where the team provides quality and safe care and work within the CARE values of the organisation.

Our leadership team consists of the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Educator, Associate Nurse unit Manager.  The ANUM does not have a patient load allowing them to efficiently manage each shift. A clinical support nurse supports the team on early shifts and assists with access and flow.

We pride ourselves on being a supportive, dedicated, respectful, and kind team where quality and safety is at the centre of our patient care.

The Role

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients with acute medical and stroke-related conditions.

  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists.
  • Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including care plans and observation charts.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and deteriorations, initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Contribute to ongoing professional development and training within the team.

You will need

  • A solid understanding of acute medical conditions and stroke care management.
  • Strong collaboration with all members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills to accurately monitor patient conditions and identify signs of deterioration in an acute care setting
