Job description:

Provide expert natural values and conservation advice and support to conservation covenant landholders, to ensure effective stewardship and management of Tasmania’s private reserve estate.

About the role

The Conservation Program Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring environmental stewardship and conservation of land with important natural values for future generations.

As a Conservation Program Officer you will:

  • Contribute to the management of the overall Private Land Conservation Program, including initiatives to contemporise our approach.
  • Visit beautiful properties around Tasmania and undertake site assessments to establish new conservation covenants.
  • Engage with and provide advice on management of nature values to a diverse range of conservation covenant landowners across the state.
  • Use your ecology and basic mapping skills to inform the preparation of conservation covenant documents.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).

Essential requirements

  • A current driver’s licence.

Desirable requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in ecology, natural sciences, environmental management, and equivalent relevant experience (including in field work).
