Job description:
Oversee the Waste and Contamination Branch’s resources to regulate waste, controlled waste, wastewater, and contaminated land.
About the Role
The Manager Waste and Contamination will manage the human, physical, financial and information resources of the Waste and Contamination branch to ensure waste, including controlled waste and wastewater and, contaminated land are regulated in accordance with the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994, other relevant legislation, and Government policy.
The Manager will also:
- Ensure compliance and enforcement actions are undertaken in accordance with relevant EPA policy, guidelines and standards.
- Work with various industries, particularly those managing waste, wastewater or contaminated land.
- Provide strategic policy and authoritative professional advice on best practice environmental management and regulatory issues.
- Represent EPA on high level committees at State and National levels.
This is a permanent position located in Devonport, Launceston or Hobart.
Our ideal candidate
- Has expertise in in administering legislation and environmental regulation, particularly for industrial waste and wastewater activities, and contaminated land.
- Can exercise initiative and judgement when providing timely, high-level advice to senior management.
- Demonstrates senior management capability to support performance and development of staff.
- Has a degree or equivalent qualification relevant to the nature of the work to be undertaken.
