Details of Appointment
Permanent day work position working 73.50 hours per fortnight.

Salary of $74,783 to $80,835pa. Starting salary negotiable within range subject to experience in a similar role. Annual salary increases within this range in accordance with the Tasmanian State Service Award and Public Sector Union Wages Agreement.

Working Environment
Tasmania Prison Service (TPS) has prison facilities located at Risdon Vale, Hobart and Launceston in Tasmania. This position is based at Risdon Vale in. The Risdon Vale site offers a corporate working environment without the hustle and bustle of city centre offices, free on-site parking and access to the on-site staff gym (or head across the road to Risdon Brook Dam for a walk at lunch time).
Duties
- Coordinate, prepare and process accounts/receipt and record transactions in the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) in accordance with departmental accounting procedures and Director’s Standing Orders (DSO’s) in regard to prisoner finances and TPS Trust Accounts including subsequent update and maintenance of relevant ancillary records and TPS databases.
- Coordinate, prepare and process monies paid via cash, EFT and cheque to prisoners on their release from prison, to authorized third parties on prisoners behalf and to TPS staff purchasing on prisoners behalf, in accordance with departmental accounting procedures and DSO’s, including subsequent update and maintenance of relevant ancillary records and TPS Databases.
- Coordinate, prepare and process requests including maintenance of ancillary records and record of financial transactions in relation to the Inmate Telephone System in accordance with departmental accounting procedures, Directors Standing Orders (DSO’s).
- Assist with the management/coordination of IT services, IT portal requests, arranging new data points and identification of same, email distributions, asset distribution and identification; and maintenance of associated registers.
- Respond to enquiries from departmental officers relating to processing of transactions in regard to prisoners financial records.
- Assist in the development, administration and monitoring of financial policies and processes for the Tasmania Prison Service (TPS).
- Assist in the preparation of the TPS budget and monthly reports.
- Assist with TPS procurement.
- Reconcile the daily bank deposits with the receipts for the Visitor Reception Centre prior to banking and certification of paperwork post banking prior to forwarding to Head Office.
- Follow any direction given concerning the safety and security of the prison in an emergency situation and ensure that prison security policy and procedures are observed.
- The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.
