Job description:

Manage the implementation of the Court’s policy and project development in Tasmania by providing high-level advice and assistance to the Administrator, Project and Policy Manager and other senior officers in relation to legislation, policy development and implementation.

Period of Appointment

Fixed term - 2 years

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Lead, support and participate in the ongoing development, co-ordination and implementation of the Court’s legislative and policy projects, including development of problem-solving justice approaches and the Court Reform Project.
  • Initiate and direct research, investigations and analyses to enable the development of high-level advice on policy, strategic and legislative matters.
  • Provide strategic advice, analysis and evaluation of policies and initiatives related to the Court’s operations and functions, including whole-of-government and whole-of-agency programs and initiatives.
  • Identify appropriate strategic and management issues for the Court and ensure they are incorporated into the project improvement and strategic planning framework of the Court.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate quality assurance activities, including the review of project outputs and outcomes.
  • Establish, maintain and develop effective relationships with Court managers, staff, project and policy stakeholders to assist and support ongoing improvement of whole-of-agency programs and major projects, including service delivery coordination, application of Court procedure and capacity building.
  • Provide progress reports to the Court and appropriate agencies and bodies.
  • Represent the Court in a range of high-level external and internal forums.
  • Provide support to Registrars and Managers when required.
  • Perform duties within the capacity, qualifications, and experience normally expected from persons occupying jobs at this classification level.

Desirable Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.

Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.
  3. Identification check.
