Job description:
Lead the design and delivery of a coordinated engagement and communications program to support the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board and the objectives of the Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy.

About the role
The Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board (the Board) is a statutory body which advises the Tasmanian Government on the direction for waste management, resource recovery and the circular economy and oversees programs and investments that translate strategy into action.
The Boards work is guided by the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2023–2026, the State’s first legislated waste strategy, which sets a clear vision for Tasmania to waste less, recover more, and grow local circular industries.
An exciting opportunity now exists for a Strategic Engagement and Communications Specialist to lead the design and delivery of a coordinated engagement and communications program to support the Board to achieve the objectives of the Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy.
This position can be located in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport.
In this role, you will:
- Enhance the Board’s brand and visibility through consistent messaging and high-quality communication outputs.
- Coordinate high profile media events and stakeholder engagement, including Ministerial announcements, conference participation and sector briefings.
- Manage digital platforms and social media presence, including content creation and performance analytics.

Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
Desirable requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, public policy, or a related field.
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
- Experience working in a government or public sector communications environment.
