Duties
To undertake analytical duties within the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) / Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (FTAC) within Tasmania Police’s Emergency Management and Special Response (EMSR) Command. The role collects, collates, analyses and reports on potential threats relating to violent extremism, fixated threats and grievance fuelled violence to inform the Commander EMSR, and support investigations. This will include research and analysis of state, national and international trends to mitigate, prevent and investigate emerging violent extremist threats potentially impacting community safety in Tasmania.

The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Such offences would include, but are not limited to:
- Arson and fire setting;
- Sexual offences;
- Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
- Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
- Making false declarations;
- Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
- Malicious damage and destruction to property
- Trafficking of narcotic substance;
- False alarm raising.
Desirable Requirements
Previous analytical experience working within intelligence or law enforcement environments and understanding the need for information security.
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline or equivalent level of experience and skills are highly desirable.
Holds, or has the ability to obtain and maintain, a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1 – Secret) security clearance
