Job description:

The role is responsible for designing, building, operating and optimising data integration and transformation pipelines across on‑premises and cloud environments. The role contributes to high‑quality data migration outcomes and trusted analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) products through strong engineering practices, data quality controls, and secure data handling.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Analyse current and target-state data models, data flows and data quality, and recommend & implement improvements.
  • Work with business SMEs and technical stakeholders to understand and document data migration, integration and reporting requirements.
  • Design, develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration for data conversion, migration and analytics use cases.
  • Implement and maintain strong engineering practices for data solutions, including version control, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and peer review.
  • Develop and maintain analytics data models, including data warehouse and reporting models, to support reliable reporting and analytics.
  • Investigate and resolve defects, data quality issues and requirement gaps, and optimise performance and cost through analysis, complex querying and tuning of data structures and processes.
  • Document solution designs, data models, code and operational procedures, and conduct knowledge transfer with technical specialists and business SMEs to support adoption and ongoing support.
  • Provide support, guidance, mentoring and quality oversight for junior team members and/or contractors as required, promoting agreed standards of work.
  • Develop and maintain a work plan, manage own activities and report progress to the programme management group.
  • The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

Desirable Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure integration and data services (e.g. Data Factory, Synapse, Serverless SQL, Fabric) or equivalent experience in another major cloud platform with the ability to rapidly transfer skills to Azure.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and cost analysis tools (e.g. Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Cost Analysis).
  • Proficiency with scripting or programming languages such as SQL, PowerShell, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and DevOps toolsets (e.g. ARM/Bicep, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps).
  • Knowledge of business intelligence and analytics tools & platforms (e.g. Fabric, Power BI, JasperSoft, etc).
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments and contributing to process improvement initiatives.
