Job description:

The objective of this position is to manage a program of projects, as allocated by the Director, providing high level leadership and oversight of staff, consultants and contractors to ensure effective project delivery. The position is responsible for providing high level strategic advice on the projects, the broader capital program, and other strategic infrastructure initiatives, while ensuring all activities are delivered within agreed budgets and timeframes.

Duties

  • Manage and co-ordinate the Project Steering Committee as required.
  • Prepare, and provide guidance to staff in the preparation of, all documentation associated with the projects, including documentation relating to consultant and construction procurement and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage, integrate and coordinate the activities of specialist consultants and contractors to ensure high‑quality, consistent and aligned project outputs.
  • Ensure that the purpose, scope, time, cost and quality aspects of the programs are comprehensively and consistently defined in sufficient detail to provide a sound basis for decision making.
  • Maintain and update Program Project Plans including key information, and responsibilities and delegations for the various project components, including costs.
  • Develop and implement Communications Plan/s for Program and Projects as required and undertake required stakeholder engagement.
  • Prepare and maintain overall Program and Project schedules and documentation, and ensure that the overall program and specific project objectives are being met.
  • Oversight the preparation of commission briefs for all project consultants and arrange for their appointment and management in accordance with Government Procurement Policy.
  • Manage resources and provide leadership within the work area to ensure that work objectives and tasks are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard.
  • Undertake other duties as necessary as required by the Director, Strategic Infrastructure.

Desirable Requirements

  • A qualification in Project Management.
  • Experience with Capital works programs for Correctional and Court Facilities including electronic security systems.
