Job description:

As a member of a team undertake duties and responsibilities within the level of competency, including fighting fires and performing other fire management tasks in remote and isolated areas.

As a member of a team undertake duties and responsibilities within the level of competency, including fighting fires and performing other fire management tasks in remote and isolated areas.

This selection process will be used to fill an initial vacancy in Scottsdale. Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1.

Hours per fortnight

76.0 hours per fortnight (minimum 60.8 hours, by negotiation).

Essential requirements

  • Meet medical and fitness requirements under the Fire Management Fitness Policy, involving medical assessment and completion of the fire-fighter fitness assessment at the ‘Arduous or Modified Arduous’ level.
  • Current Manual Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.

    Band 2

    • Minimum 600 hours of combined bush firefighting and planned burns experience.
    • PUA201719 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations).

    Band 3

    • Minimum 1500 hours of combined bush firefighting and planned burns experience.
    • PUA201719 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations).
    • Completion of the required units of competence as specified in Section 4.1.8 of the AWU Award, including nationally recognised and accredited training (courses) for the Crew Leader role.

Desirable requirements

  • Remote Area First Aid Certificate.
  • Licences and/or certificates to drive firefighting vehicles and equipment.
