Key Focus Areas / Deliverables (Statement of Duties)

Work is performed under general direction to achieve the required outcomes. Within the scope of the role, flexibility, innovation and initiative are expected in providing alternative solutions to operational issues and challenges.
The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the delivery of cleaning services at PAHSMA to the highest standard.
The incumbent is expected to use independent decision making and initiative to resolve issues to satisfy client and stakeholder requirements. Designated work activities will be completed on time and to a high standard.
The incumbent is responsible for attendance to duties in a cooperative and professional manner, participation in regular team meetings and maintenance of a cohesive team structure, compliance with PAHSMA's policies and procedures and for showing diligence in punctuality and attendance. Regular liaison is required with other team members, internal and external stakeholders and the incumbent is expected to be courteous and well presented at all times.
The incumbent is also responsible for appropriate use and care of tools, equipment and resources.
All employees are responsible for participating actively and constructively in discussions regarding performance and for the implementation of agreed outcomes in accordance with PAHSMA's Performance Management policies and strategies.

Direction / supervision received:
The Cleaning Supervisor will report to the Works Manager and is expected to operate under general direction and supervision based on established procedures and practices using initiative and exercising discretion in solving nonstandard issues.
The incumbent is expected to exercise independent judgement in the practices, methods and standards to be applied, and the planning and timing required to complete multiple, complex and diverse tasks.

Capabilities & Attributes (Selection Criteria)

Demonstrated staff supervisory skills with the ability to instruct, guide and coach cleaning staff in a team environment, in line with the PAHSMA values (see below).

Demonstrated understanding of the principles, practices and standards associated with cleaning, particularly in a heritage and tourism environment.

Awareness of work health and safety issues in a heritage and tourism environment.

Proven administrative and computer skills.

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the capacity to liaise, provide advice and assistance to customers, stakeholders and colleagues.

Demonstrated time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and improve workflow efficiency to meet the demands of peak periods without affecting work and service quality.
