Job description:
The Practice Quality Assurance Principal leads the development, implementation and review of professional practice continuous improvement frameworks and processes across Child Safety and Youth Justice Operations (CSYJO). The role is accountable for driving continuous improvement in professional practice, ensuring alignment with practice standards across the continuum of supports provided to children and young people engaged with the child safety and youth justice system. This is achieved through the ongoing enhancement of practice quality and proactive risk governance across the Portfolio.
The incumbent will provide expert leadership and advice on practice quality and risk governance, including responses to critical incidents, serious events, wellbeing-in-care concerns, and complaints. They will monitor and report on compliance with professional practice standards, and lead practice reviews, audits, and investigations. Insights from these activities will be used to analyse practice trends and develop evidence-informed recommendations to drive continuous improvement across the Portfolio.
The role will work collaboratively across the Department to drive practice improvement through the application of quality and risk governance frameworks. It will lead the development of oversight, monitoring, and reporting processes, such as serious event reviews and the Serious Issues Escalation Hub, to strengthen accountability and responsiveness. A key focus of the position is to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement by ensuring that all quality assurance activities are meaningfully linked to professional development and enhanced practice outcomes which hold the wellbeing of the child or young person at the centre of practice.
