Period of Appointment

Appointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. 

Duties

• Provide effective leadership to the Licensing & Assessment Unit and Business Enquiries and Transactions Team. This will include setting and implementing strategic priorities, driving a positive team culture and coaching and developing Team Leaders.
• Provide strategic and operational support to the RMV in maintaining the security and integrity of the Tasmanian Motor Registry System (MRS).
• Undertake high level research and analysis of issues relating to policy and legislation administered in Registration and Licensing Services, providing appropriate solutions and recommendations.
• Effectively lead and manage major policy and legislative projects relevant to driver licensing, ensuring projects are delivered within timeframes and budget, and in accordance with government and corporate strategic objectives.
• Undertake high level consultation and negotiation with key stakeholders, and other jurisdictions, agencies, branches and divisions.
• Provide high level advice and briefings for the information and decision of the Minister, Secretary, Deputy Secretary and other relevant senior executives in relation to driver licensing policy and legislation, and MRS security and integrity.
• Provide support to the RMV in leading and managing the Branch and contribute effectively as a senior manager in Road User Services to ensure that Registration and Licensing Services implements its strategies and operates within the corporate policy framework and in accordance with its values.

Desirable Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications
• Expertise in a road safety policy and/or programs environment.
