About the role:
Based in Launceston, you will be a multi-skilled TV news professional with an eye for detail and a keen interest in local news and current affairs. As a Journalist, you’ll be responsible for researching, pitching, and delivering quality pictures-driven news content. Additionally, you’ll have the calm leadership and knowhow to produce a live television news bulletin that is engaging, accurate and delivered to tight deadlines. Our News is 7 days a week and involves regular weekend work.
What you’ll be doing:
- Plan, research, write and present on air compelling local news stories.
- Be ready to travel to where the news is happening.
- Produce live news bulletins, teaming with technical and studio crew, and talent.
- Direct and assign resources to maximise news coverage.
- Liaise with and assist 7 Network affiliates.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with other staff, contacts, and our audience.
Experience we’re looking for:
- A passion for news, with a keen eye for the issues that matter to our audience.
- Proven experience as a television news producer with an in-depth understanding of the production process.
- Exceptional news judgment, combined with strong writing and copy-editing skills.
- Ability to multi-task and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Experience leading and collaborating with team members and with other news leaders.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
