The Department of Education Leadership, Management and Policy, within the College of Human Development, Culture and Media at Seton Hall University, invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in law enforcement executive leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate ought to have a terminal degree in law enforcement or a related field with expertise in disciplines such as law, sociology, psychology, criminology, criminal justice, or organizational leadership. Professional experience in law enforcement is preferred. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience teaching online and hybrid courses. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The lecturer position includes a teaching load of 24 credits per year, with opportunities for special assignments with credit reductions based on departmental needs. The position begins August 2024, at the start of the Fall 2024 academic semester.
The position requires the faculty member to advise students, teach courses, chair dissertations, ensure programmatic quality, and complete service for the Department and College. In collaboration with the law enforcement program director, the faculty member will have a key role in recruiting students, marketing programs, pursuing grants, and developing courses and programs:
• Student Advisement: The faculty member will advise students to ensure students’ success, retention, and completion in programs.
• Instruction: The faculty member will teach courses in the department, including a 24-credit teaching load per academic year.
• Dissertation Mentorship: The faculty member will serve as a dissertation chair and committee member for doctoral students in the Department of Education Leadership, Management & Policy.
• Program Quality: The faculty member, in coordination with the department chairperson and law enforcement program director, will ensure the quality of courses and programs. This includes assessing, developing, and improving courses and programs as well as preparing courses for online modalities.
• Department and College Service: The faculty member will complete service activities for the department and college including, but not limited to, committee work and recruitment and outreach initiatives.
• Recruitment and Marketing: In collaboration with the law enforcement program director, the faculty member will recruit students and market programs.
• Grant Writing: The faculty member, in collaboration with the law enforcement program director, will pursue grants in order to develop and expand programs and extracurricular opportunities.
• Program Development: In collaboration with the law enforcement program director, the faculty member will improve existing programs and develop, connected to the overall programmatic portfolio and strategic plan of the department, curricular programs, and extracurricular opportunities.
The department chairperson may assign additional duties when necessary.

The Department of Education Leadership, Management and Policy is dedicated to serving students seeking educational leadership roles in public, private and parochial schools, colleges, universities, non-profit organizations and other education policy organizations. Programs of study leading to the degrees Master of Arts, Educational Specialist, Doctor of Education and Doctor of Philosophy are individualized to meet student needs. The Law Enforcement Executive Leadership program provides a challenging and unique curriculum, delivered through a 100% online format, completed over 30 credit hours and within six semesters. Students may either attend online classes live or watch recorded classes at a time that works best for them. Our courses are taught by experienced and knowledgeable professors, and our curriculum enables students to acquire the necessary skills and tools to analyze complex public sector challenges and manage the day-to day operations of public agencies.
